Attorney Ron C. Gorsche graduated from Marquette University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a minor in business administration. After graduating, he worked as an engineer for Underwriters Laboratories, the largest third-party testing facility in the world. Wanting more, Ron returned to school and received his law degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1997, specifically to pursue a career as a patent attorney. Ron currently practices as a registered patent attorney, licensed to practice in Colorado, Nevada, Illinois and Wisconsin and, given his love for the financial and business side of technology, also pursued an LLM in taxation from the University of Denver.
Until recently, Ron has worked for large law firms over the course of his 17 years of practice and, in doing so, has frequently worked on many significant projects involving a variety of issues relating to intellectual property. He has prepared and successfully prosecuted numerous U.S. and international patent applications. He regularly consults with companies in identifying various protectable aspects of a company’s products, services and concepts, and in developing and managing their U.S. and international intellectual property portfolios, including drafting of licensing and technology development agreements.
Ron also has significant commercial transactions experience and has negotiated and drafted manufacturing, distribution, sales representative, re-seller, franchising, financing, security, confidentiality, consulting, marketing, merchandising and independent contractor agreements.
He also has litigated numerous patent, trademarks and copyright issues in many and diverse areas of technology, both in Federal Courts around the U.S. and before the U.S. International Trade Commission.
Ron’s experience extends beyond merely representing clients to establishing, developing and managing the global patent portfolio and patent strategy for a large casino currency and gaming product manufacturer and a medium sized semi-conductor company.
Ron’s passion is working with smart, interesting and driven individuals early in the life cycle of their company’s origin to create a competitive advantage for the core technology. To that end, he has created, instituted and managed the intellectual property portfolios and intellectual property strategy for several start-up companies.
